The following are testimonials from clients that I have trained over the years. Personal references are available upon request as well.
Thank you for all of your help, guidance and advice over the past few months. My shoulder injury is much improved thanks to your exercises. My Doctor is very impressed with the strength and progress that I have gained. I was concerned that at my age-a mere sixty two, that I was going to be a cripple, not able to perform my ADL's. I am now looking forward to charging into retirement and getting the most out of my life. Please use me as a reference whenever you wish.

Paul is exactly what I personal trainer should be. He practices what he preaches, he tailors his plans and expertise to meet my fitness goals, he is respectful of my limitations at the same time that he encourages me to push through and past them, and he's incredibly knowledgeable about both fitness and human physiology. You should not hesitate to contact him.

I started working with Paul 9 months ago, at 5’9” and 230 lbs, I was active, but not satisfied with my self-guided efforts to improve my physical condition. I needed a coach to guide my fitness plan. I talked with many trainers before deciding to give Paul a trial. My initial criteria: physiologically sound principles, an appreciation of individual needs, and a willingness to work with my unique constraints. I travel heavily for business, and I needed a realistic plan that allowed for an ever-changing exercise routine and guidance with nutritional requirements. Paul recommended a long-term approach that would serve me better than a short-term, dramatic approach. I worked with Paul every other week, on average, and gradually introduced more self-discipline into my own routine between appointments. The effects have been dramatic, and I am now 185 lbs, a size 34 waist instead of a 38, and eat appropriately-sized meals for my activity level and BMR. Unlike my previous attempts to improve physical condition, I have actually learned much more about what my body actually needs to be healthy, how I can incorporate weight-training into a passion for endurance sports, and I have overcome my fear of “the gym environment”. Paul pays particular attention to form and balance, always coming back to core strength. His coaching style is calm and encouraging, never intimidating or guilt-driven. If I hadn’t worked with Paul, I don’t think I would have made anywhere near the progress that I have experienced to-date.

At age 35, I was dangerously overweight and wearing a woman's clothing size 22. I suffered from high blood pressure and an increased heart rate. I constantly ached all over, had difficult time breathing, and was at risk for serious health problems. So how did I get there? Well, I am not one of those people that cannot remember how it all began. In fact I remember all too well. I was working as a new manager for a large insurance company in northeast Ohio. The workload was outrageous, and I began working long hours, around 80 to 90 hours per week. Fast food became my best friend...worst enemy. I would eat out at least twice a day and consume close to 2,000 calories per meal because I felt "too busy" to make healthy meal choices.
When I moved on from that position to an equally stressful occupation, I gained an additional 50 pounds. One day I got a good look at myself in the mirror and did not recognize me. My caboose was bigger than ever, and all of the extra weight caused me to feel tired and sick. As a matter of fact, at that point I could not remember that last time that I did not feel lethargic. I was over 200 pounds.
Finally, I came to my senses and decided to work with a personal trainer. I knew that I could get the discipline and advice I needed to reverse the damage. At first I thought, I cannot afford a personal trainer. Then I realized that I could not afford to go without one. After six years of being in the obese category, I had to make a change. With a new diet plan, a whole new look on life, and a personal trainer, Paul Owens, to kick me where it hurts, I went on to lose over 80 pounds in just six months. To be honest, I noticed a big difference in how I felt in my first month of working with my personal trainer. Paul kept me grounded, focused, well informed, and most important, safe. After a while, I found myself wanting to workout. I never thought I would say this in a million years, but I get upset whenever I miss a workout. I even got my co-workers to enter a weight loss competition at work. Our team "I can't believe we're not fatter because I know what you weighed last summer" won first place.
With just 33 pounds to go before I reach my initial goal, I am stronger and healthier than I have been in a long time. How did I do it? I meet with my personal trainer 3 times a week for strength training. When I am not working out with my trainer, Paul, I usually pick up a spinning class 3 to 4 times a week. I've never felt better!
